Instead of questioning what is correct or incorrect, my art has been a way to free myself from strictly one identity with a certain angle. I have multiple identities which are constantly changing. My work represents an unbound freedom of expression released from any formal adherence to a determined identity. Having lived and exhibited in many places, my perception of the world is open for curiosities, chances, and surprises. My work contains a disarming sense of play rife with potential designed to engender, a sense of belonging and inclusion regardless of the differences in backgrounds. I often work in a series on themes, playing with these subjects and translating them into abstract visual images. When I paint, I feel alive, lucky and happy.
Having a nomadic life, I feel displaced and alienated as if floating in infinite space.
Ukiyo-e means âpictures of the floating world.â Somehow I found connection to the art of Edo period in Japan. In that period, people needed outlets for play. The art and culture were another world where people are free to be themselves outside the hierarchical system. Ukiyo-e artists brought their own interest of fantasies and imaginations. People enjoyed the delight in this sort of free world. Playfulness.
