My first job on Vashon was at the Country Store, picking organic greens for $7 and hour. Island matriarch, Vy Biel, built the business, but Beth & Cindy were the farmers running the organic greens fields surrounding the building. Since my arrival in 1988, the Country Store building and the quality of the goods inside have remained consistent.
