this piece arose out of my thinking about my relationship with my mother, who died in 2016. I found when clearing my parents' house that my mother had kept all my correspondence to her since my childhood. I had done the same with all the letters she had sent to me. Each pocket of the conjoined dresses holds a letter from our mutual stashes, joining my mother and me through time and the postal service.
