Kristen Reitz-Green began painting in 2008 after a career in classical French horn performance. She graduated from the Hartt School of music and the Juilliard School before touring the country performing with Broadway shows. She played years of ballet performances as a member of the Pacific Northwest Ballet Orchestra and performed for movie recordings and countless other performances with many orchestras. Kristen also taught French horn at several universities. After moving to Vashon in 2006 and bringing two children into the world, she found a new love in the arts world. Her life now centers around creating art that gives her a new freedom to express herself and new ways of seeing the world. The subject matter of her oil paintings usually involves food or animals and things that fill the world with joy. She also works in mosaic, lapidary, and jewelry making.
